CLINTON – A Fulton, Ill. man was injured Sunday afternoon in a tubing accident on the Mississippi River near Clinton.
Kurt Parker, 31, and another passenger were on a tube being pulled by a boat when the rope broke while making a turn causing the tube to crash into the rocky shoreline at approximately 1 p.m. The other passenger fell off in the water before the tube hit the shore and was not injured.
Parker was thrown on shore and knocked unconscious. He was treated for facial and head injuries at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton and then flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City.
The incident remains under investigation by the DNR.
