Lowell Irvin Scott, 96, of Keosauqua, formerly of Cantril died at 8:27 A.M. Monday September 7, 2015 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. He was born March 16, 1919 in rural Davis County to Irvin and Mae Scott and married Dorothy Skelton on June 9, 1940. She died March 3, 2013. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in 2013.
Soon after they were married, Dorothy and Lowell moved to a farm outside Cantril. Lowell farmed with his dad until he retired in 1986. He was very proud of his Angus cattle herd which he had until he had a farm auction in 1986. He and Dorothy bought a house in Cantril, Lowell helped Jack and Linda Sharp farm for 22 years until he retired again due to health issues. He and Dorothy moved to Good Samaritan Society, Keosauqua in 2009. Lowell enjoyed visiting with friends and family and loved to read.
Surviving are a brother, Don Scott (Ellagene) of Branson, Mo, special friends, Jack and Linda Sharp of Cantril, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Faye Engle, a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday September 10, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Visitation will open at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present 5- 7 P.M. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Memorials to Sunnyside Cemetery, Cantril Fire Dept., Cantril Grass Roots or Cantril Christian Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 27232 Gold Avenue, Cantril, IA 52542.
