Loebsack Statement on House Floor Sit-In Demanding Action on Gun ViolenceWritten by Theresa Rose on June 23, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after House Democrats held a sit-in on the House floor to demand Republicans hold a vote on legislation to keep our communities safe and guns out of the hands of terrorists. Loebsack joined with Rep. John Lewis, who led the sit-in, along with many members of the House and Senate.
“As a father and former teacher, keeping our children and communities safe is one of my top priorities. We have held many moments of silence on the House floor honoring those who have lost their lives to gun violence. We should honor them, but silence alone is not enough; it is time for action. The House of Representatives cannot go into another recess without holding votes on legislation that will keep our families safe and guns out of the hands of terrorists.”
