Lewis W. “Bud” Venghous, age 83, formerly of Mt. Union, died Monday June 1, 2015 at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant. The son of Chester and Nellie (Coppes) Venghous, he was born October 20, 1931 at Burlington. On February 1, 1964 he married Mary Louise Colvin at Wyconda, Missouri; she died October 27, 2004. He was a graduate of the Yarmouth High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-52. He worked at the Mt. Union Coop for over 40 years. He served on the Mt. Union city council and was mayor for 20 years. He was a member of the Winfield Open Bible Church. He was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed attending his granddaughters sporting events.
Survivors include: two daughters, Debora and Jim Wilkerson of Winfield; Diane and Dennis Breon of Mt. Union; five granddaughters, Jordan and Kassidy McLaughlin, Jami Wilkerson, and Taylor and Paige Breon; and his beloved dog, “boots”
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
The funeral service will be Thursday June 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield with Mr. Dennis Manes officiating. Interment will follow at the Trinity Cemetery, Mt. Union. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Honts Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends. A general memorial has been established in his name.
