The 175 Lee County Fair opened Wednesday night with ceremonies in front of the grandstand. Fairgoers were ready for the carnival to open and looking forward to the horse and mule races. But first the 2016 Queen and Jr. Queen were crowned and will reign over the rest of this special anniversary fair. This year’s junior queen is 15 year old Summer Smith, the daughter of Jamey Sue and Dave Smith. She is a student at Central Lee High School. First runner-up is Jennna Wenke and second runner-up is Jolene Snider. Nine young ladies vied for the title.
There were three candidates for the 2016 Lee County Fair Queen. Emma Newberry, daughter of Jason and Wendy Newberry and Annie Thornton is Miss Congeniality and 2nd runner up. Oliva Hoenig, daughter of Terry and Jenni Hoenig is first runner-up and this year’s queen is 17 year old Sarah Maitlyn Tweedy. Sarah Maitlyn will be a Senior at Central Lee High School and is the daughter of Matt and Sarah Tweedy.
