Lee County Economic Developement and Partners sponsor manufacturing courseWritten by Theresa Rose on September 22, 2015
Lee County EDG, in conjunction with our partners, is sponsoring Manufacturing 101 course, designed to help develop the skills necessary to start a new career in manufacturing.
Lee County EDG has listened to our manufacturing partners regarding the skills they need in entry level applicants.
We tailored this program to meet those needs of our manufacturers. As a result, many community industry professionals are on board with the program; stating they will give graduates a priority look when hiring. Lee County manufacturing partners include: Allied Blending & Ingredients, Axalta Coatings, Climax Molybdenum, Cryotech Deicing Technology, DuPont, Henniges Automotive, Independent Can Company, Roquette America, Scotts Miracle Gro, Siemens Wind Energy, Steffensmeier Welding, and Pinnacle Foods.
Participants in the Manufacturing 101 course will be able to gain experience in the skills necessary for an entry level position at a local manufacturer. The course, starting October 20th, will be held two nights a week at the SCC Fort Madison Center from October through January. Space is limited with only fifteen spots allotted for the initial class. There is no cost for participation however registration is required, and preference will be given to Lee County residents. Transportation and on-site childcare is available to all students.
Student Applications for Manufacturing 101 are now being accepted, deadline is October 9th. Interested participants can find out more information and apply by visiting http://www.leecountyedg.com/News-Media.aspx or contact Dana Millard at firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-931-7182 for additional information.
