Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Announces Kraus Resignation

Written by Theresa Rose on July 6, 2016

MOUNT PLEASANT – The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce (MPACC) and Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission (MPADC) announced today that Travis Kraus has resigned from his position as Executive Vice President of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, effective July 22nd, 2016.

In his statement, Kraus explained that changes in family circumstances contributed significantly to his decision, citing the challenges of fulfilling his job duties to the Mount Pleasant community in the midst of a pending relocation to Iowa City.  Future plans for Kraus include a position with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities, a University of Iowa outreach program pairing interdisciplinary graduate programs with real-world projects in Iowa communities.

“I am proud of the work we’ve accomplished in my time with the Chamber Alliance, and will be always grateful to have worked with passionate staff, volunteers, and community leaders,” said Kraus.  “MPACA is a strong and effective community organization, and I am certain that the valuable lessons and experiences I’ve had with the organization will guide my future work.”

Kraus has served as Executive Vice President since November 2014.  Under the guidance of the Boards of Directors, significant accomplishments under Kraus include the sale of the speculative building in Crossroads Industrial Park, now home to MM Composite, designation for Henry County as a Home Base Iowa community, and development of a new community-oriented website for the MPACA organization.

In a joint statement, Chris Van de Berg (MPACC President) and David File (MPADC President) expressed their gratitude for the hard work, dedication, and innovative thinking that Kraus brought to the Chamber Alliance.  They further underscored their intent to follow through on initiatives and goals already in place under Kraus.

The Board of Directors will soon advertise for the Executive Vice President position with the goal of filling it as quickly as possible with the best candidate.
