Jean “Irene” Liles

Jean “Irene” Liles, 88, formerly of Selma died at 3:35 P.M. Sunday November 29, 2015 at Premier Estates Care Center, Muscatine. She was born May 28, 1927 in rural Batavia to Guy and Elsie McCleary DeVore and married Emett Leroy Liles July 6, 1946 at his family’s home, rural Floris. Irene was a farm homemaker and supported her husband in his horse racing career. Caring for her family was her main role in life. She was an active member of Eldon Assembly of God Church for 40+ years.

Remaining to cherish her memory are two sons, Tim Liles (Lynne) of Muscatine and Randy Liles (Barb) of Packwood, three daughters, Mary Szeliga of Ottumwa, Ginger Chatfield (Daniel) of Muscatine and Teresa Poush (Scott) of Mountain Home, AR, 12 grandchildren, Mark Sprouse, Mike Sprouse, Ben Sprouse (Lisa), Jon Liles (Mindi), Tyler Poush (Allison), Blake Poush, Alan Chatfield, Dylan Poush, Marcia Thornton (Bobby), Christy King (Jason), Britney Lawrence (Seth) and Andrea Slapnicka (Joe), 8 great-grandchildren, Gunner Thornton, Jack and Katlin Sprouse and Liam, Tori and Taylor Liles, Adalyn King and Emma Poush, a great great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Liles, four sisters-in law, Jean and Marian DeVore, Pauline Lind and Naomi Lathrop and two brothers-in-law, Gene Liles and Paul Liles (Evelyn), other relatives and many friends

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Liles, eight brothers, Carol, Leonard, Paul, Donald, Lowell, Roy Forrest, Dennis and Arlo DeVore and two sisters, Fern Kiper and Shearley McDowell.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday December 3, 2015 in Eldon Assembly of God Church with Pastor John Cooper officiating. Visitation with family present will be 5-7 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Iowaville Cemetery, west of Selma. Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the church or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 369, Eldon, IA 52554. Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
