Iowa Wesleyan presents Wenjing Liu piano recital Tuesday, March 31

Wenjing Liu, a solo performer and chamber musician, has performed throughout the United States, China, Italy, and most recently, made her New York City debut in Steinway Hall. A recipient of many accolades and awards, Ms. Liu is the first-prize winner of the prestigious Asia Teenager Piano Competition (2005 Yantai, China), second-prize winner in the 17th American Piano Competition of Yantai China (2007 Yantai, China), and numerous scholarships from universities and honorable mentions from piano competitions. Ms. Liu also is an active participant and performer in piano festivals. In 2012, she attended the Amalfi Music Festival held in Maiori, where Dr. Nosikova also teaches. In 2013, she attended Piano Summer in New Paltz, New York. She performed for world-class pianists including John Perry and Aldo Ciccolini, Vladimir Feltsman. Ms. Liu is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa where she is the piano department’s teaching assistant and the opera department’s research assistant. At the University, her primary instructor is Dr. Ksenia Nosikova. Beginning her piano studies at the early age of 6, she also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Shandong University and a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Illinois State.

The recital is being held in Old Main, room 300 on Tuesday, March 31 and is free and open to the public. The recital begins at 7:00 PM.
