Inmate Assault on Staff

On May 5, 2015 at approximately 8:30 pm staff activated an emergency alarm due to an assault in Living Unit 2B. A Correctional Officer was assaulted by offender Beau Gries. Offender Gries walked into the unit officers work area and struck the correctional officer on duty.
The assault by offender Gries included several punches to the facial area causing bruising and swelling to the face. The staff member was treated by on sight medical personal and transported to the local emergency room where he was treated and released. The Department considers this incident a very serious assault although the injuries are not life threatening.

Beau Gries is a 24 year old offender from Plymouth county serving time for 903B.2 (2005) — Special Supervision Sentence of a sexual offense and 401(1)(c)(6) (1999) -Proh Acts-Mfg, Del, Consp, or Poss w/Int.

Following investigation, this incident will be referred to the Henry County Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Due to the pending investigation, the officer’s name or additional information is not available for public release at this time.
