Hopefully Iris Street Will Open at the end of the WeekendWritten by Theresa Rose on January 12, 2015
It looks like Iris Street in Mt. Pleasant will be opened up yet this week from Washington to Winfield Avenue. The plan at this time is for BNSF Railroad to finish the railroad crossing Thursday morning. The Mt. Pleasant Public Works crew will assist in placing cold mix between the two sets of tracks and the approach from the South. Everyone should complete their work by early afternoon Thursday at which time the railroad crossing will open to the Public. This will allow travel on North Iris Street from Washington Street to Winfield Avenue. The portion of North Iris St. from the RR Crossing South will be closed again in the Spring to finish construction. This won’t happen until sometime in April at the earliest. At that time there will be temporary access into all businesses south of the RR tracks.
