Help Available for those who want to quit smokingWritten by Theresa Rose on February 16, 2015
February is American Heart Health Month – the perfect time for tobacco users to quit. Tobacco users are more likely to develop heart disease and are at an increased risk for heart attacks and cancer. Quitting tobacco can significantly decrease these risks. After 15 years, heart disease risks are considered the same as someone who never used tobacco.
When you enroll in Quitline Iowa, a Quit Coach® will help you set an individualized plan to help you quit for good. You’ll also learn the skills and have access to the tools and support you need to stay quit.
Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669), or log on to www.quitlineiowa.org for details or to enroll. Or contact Chris Kempker at the Henry County Extension office 385-8126.
