The Henry County Health Center Board of Trustees met for their regular May meeting Tuesday. Under old business the board heard a report from C.E.O. Robb Gardner about the construction project that will redo the north parking lot. Designs for the project are expected in early June and a construction document should be ready for the board to review at their July meeting. No completion date has been set for the project yet. The board work session has been set for May 24th and will run all day from 8:30 am till 4:30 pm. Under new business the 2017 budget was approved at just over $36 million, up 1.85% from the 2016 budget. Several expenditures in that budget will be a 2% merit wage increase for employees.
There are $2.2 million in capital purchases some of which are: $180,000 for a mamography machine upgrade to 3D images. The long term care unit will have roof repairs totaling $136,000 and a $130,000 update to the wireless update. Trustee Joel Prottsman did an inspection of the Radiology Department and reported that the personnel are looking forward to updates in equipment and employees are happy with their work area. Gardner did the medical staff report and said that they are looking into the possibility of hiring an Orthopedic P.A to assist surgeon Dr. Joe Tanzy. Park Place had a recent state nursing inspection and had 4 citations that were minor and were corrected immediately. They also had a state fire marshall inspection and had four citations that were minor and corrected imediately. Some of the citations dealt with the call system currently being used, a new system should be installed by June 1st. An elder satisfaction survey also was sent out, a high percentage of surveys were returned with positive responses.
