Henry County Health Center may be getting a new parking lot on the north end of the building that will be used for people coming to the hospital for rehab and infusion services, preliminary plans and sketches were viewed by the HCHC Board of Trustees at their regular June meeting yesterday. The present parking lot will be changed some to accomodate a patient drop off area and will feature angle parking. There also will be some larger spaces for vans to park in. A resurfaced sidewalk and a half-inch curb are also in the plans being drawn up by French-Rennicker engineering. The project if it goes as planned will begin in September and be completed before Thanksgiving. Renovating the main parking lot of HCHC is being considered for next year. A $100,000 planning grant was awarded to the hospital by H.R.S.A., monies will be shared by HCHC, the Henry County Board of Health and Family Medicine to plan ways to improve patient care. Michelle Rosell was instrumental in writing the application for the grant and was thanked by the board for her work in getting the funding. The board approved the July meeting date for the 26th day of the month a week later than normal. The trustees then voted to enter into executive session to discuss patient care quality.
