HCHC Board Meeting Held Tuesday

Most of the business before the Henry County Health Center Board of Trustees Tuesday dealt with proposed parking lot improvements.  The trustees approved the re-construction of the lot for Rehab and Administration on the hospital’s south side at an estimated cost of$480,000.  They also approved construction of a new canopy at that entrance at an estimated cost of $155,000.  The pre-bid meeting for both projects will be held August 4 at 10 am. Bids need to be in by August 16 when they will opened and reviewed at 10 am that day.  The bids will be presented and the public hearing will be held during the noon board meeting also on August 16.  French Renneker is the engineer on the project.  CEO Robb Gardner said the work should start late August and be completed by the end of October.  He emphasized that these improvements will improve patient access and safety as well as curb appeal.  Gardner went on to say that the east main parking lot also needs improving for the same reasons.  In fact it has been determined that there is a little over four million dollars in work that needs to be done on all the HCHC parking lots.  Gardner and CFO Dave Muhs are working on financing for this and will have details for the August Board meeting.  In other business, the HCHC trustees approved a five year lease for four additional monitors for the emergency department.  And then Gardner reminded board members Ron Clouse, Jan Towne and Kent Severson that they are up for re-election.  Joel Prottsman will also have to run since he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board.  Their names will appear on the November ballot if each one files the proper paperwork with the required number of signatures from Henry County residents.
