Get Registered for Weeds Week

Written by Anna Greiner on July 24, 2015

Weeds Week is a week-long series of informational meetings that focuses on herbicides and their effectiveness. The half-day sessions will be held at five ISU research farms August 3 through 7. It is hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach Agronomists. There will be hands-on weed management planning, small group discussion and plot tours. Farmers will learn how to select herbicides from a herbicide effectiveness table, identify which to apply and also how to develop their own four-year weed management plan. Agribusiness representatives can also participate and will learn the same information but with more of a focus on how to support farmers and their operations. The session closest to the KILJ listening area will be held on August 3 at the Southeast Iowa Research Farm near Crawfordsville. The Farmer Session starts at 9:30 am and the Agribusiness session will begin at 1 pm. Registration is $25 for each session and includes refreshments, lunch and materials. To assist with facility and meal planning there is a registration deadline 4 days prior to each meeting. Register online with a credit card at For more information, call 515-294-6429 or
