Gas Tax Increase to Pay for Street RepairsWritten by Theresa Rose on May 14, 2015
Thanks to the 10 cent gas tax increase, several smaller Mt. Pleasant street repair projects will soon get underway. The City Council approved contracts with Cessford Construction for asphalt overlay projects on North Van Buren from Washington to Monroe and from Monroe to Madison, on South Adams between Clay and Warren and on West Broad from White to Broadway. The additional revenues from the tax increase will be used to finance these projects right away and other street repairs in the future.
