From the Supervisors MeetingWritten by Theresa Rose on August 5, 2016
The Henry County Board of Supervisors have set Aug. 16 at 9 am as the time for a public hearing on the sale of county owned property. Messer Feed and Supply have offered the county $19,000 for 9.55 acres in Tippicanoe Township along the Skunk River.
In other business from Thursday’s board meeting…the supervisors discussed improvements to the County Solid Waste Central Collection site on west Washington Street in Mt. Pleasant. Mike Prottsman of Prottsman sanitation operates the site and would like to bring in two compactors rather than use a compactor truck every week and traffic flow thru the area needs improving. This means the site needs electricity and water and the utilities need separated from the Emergency Management building. Security lights are needed. A new entrance is needed for the entrance and the current gate would be the exit. All in all the recommended improvements are estimated to cost $46,000. A decision will probably be made at the next board meeting. These changes would also situate the county owned site for centralizing recycling and maybe trash collection in the future.
The supervisors are expected to approving closing the courthouse August 31 at 2 pm due to the Old Threshers Harvest Parade. Auditor Shelly Barber noted this is the last day of the month so if anyone has any type of payment to make, those can be put in the drop off box at the court house south entrance.
