In January Mount Pleasant Police handled 48 investigations. This is down from the previous month and from January of last year. The extreme cold weather may have had an affect. But Police saw a rise in Criminal Mischief and Vandalism calls in January. And thefts are still high on the call list.

Police remind citizens to lease lock your car doors. This will help prevent car thefts. Police encourage residents to call in any suspicious activity.

There have been numerous scam calls including electric or utility scams asking for payment or they will shut down your services. These calls ask for payment via unusual payment plans. There are no legitimate businesses that take payment for services in Google Cards, Best Buy cards, or Play station cards. You can use the Text a Tip hotline at (319) 931-3667 and it will be anonymous.
