Floyd E. Spilman, 71, of Fairfield died at 8:20 P.M. Monday August 10, 2015 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center, Fairfield. He was born January 23, 1944 near Selma to Don W. Marjorie Whiting Spilman and married Johanna Trout December 19, 1964 in Eldon. Floyd grew up in the Selma community, graduated from Cardinal High School and attended Indian Hills Community College. He worked at American Chain and Cable and Rockwell International both in Fairfield and was a union representative at Rockwell. He had also operated an auto repair shop in Fairfield. He had been a member of the Machinist Union and Fairfield Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Don Spilman (Shari) of Ottumwa, a daughter, Jeri Odell of Fairfield, two grandsons, Travis and Chase Spilman, a granddaughter, Harley Odell and a sister, Sandra Plowman of Cedar Rapids. His parents and a brother, Frank Spilman preceded him in death.
Floyd’s body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday August 15, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Visitation with family present will be 10-11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial of cremains will be in Iowaville Cemetery, rural Selma. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 506 West Stone Street, Fairfield, IA 52556
