Fall Field Day Tour at ISU SE Iowa Research Farm on September 8

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Iowa — Farmers and those who advise farmers about crops will want to attend the annual fall field day at the Iowa State University Southeast Iowa Research Farm near Crawfordsville on September 8, according to Virgil Schmitt, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension Field Agronomist.


Registration for the field day begins at 1:00 p.m. with the tour starting at 1:30 p.m. with a “Season Review and a CenUSA Research Update” by Myron Rees, Farm Superintendent, and Greg Brenneman, ISU Extension Ag Engineering Specialist.


“One of the featured tour stops will be a presentation on UAVs that includes a demonstration and discussion of the basics of imagery,” said Schmitt.


Also highlighted on the tour will be “Farm Pond Management” by Allen Pattillo, ISU Extension Fisheries and Aquaculture Specialist; “FACTS: Yield Forecasting Tool” by Sotirios Archontoulis, ISU Extension Cropping Systems Specialist.


The field day is free and open to the public. Certified Crop Advisor Continuing Education Units will be available.


To reach the farm, follow U.S. Highway 218 one and three quarters miles south of Crawfordsville, then two miles east on county road G-62, then three quarters mile north.  Signs will be posted to guide you to the event.
