Area emergency crews and law enforcement agencies were kept busy on Wednesday. Last night three Illinois men were injured in a two vehicle accident just west of New London. A car driven by 20 year old Dalton Elliot of LaHarpe was eastbound on Hwy 34. The other car driven by 18 year Dallas Cheney of Houghton was southbound on 260th and failed to yield the right of way from the median and pulled into the path of the Elliot vehicle. Cheney’s car hit Elliot’s in the drivers side causing the Elliot vehicle to spin around and roll into the median. Elliot and one passenger in his vehicle, David Maynard of Blandinville, Illinois, were flown to U of I hospitals. The third person in that car, Justin Marshall, 27, of Niota Illinois was taken toHCHC. Cheney was not hurt. The Iowa State Patrol report did not indicate if charges were pending.
That accident occurred at about 6:30 pm. A second accident happened at 7:15 pm at 320th Street and Wayland Road. Injuries were reported. No other details are available but initial reports say it was two vehicle accident that may have involved a semi.
At 2:40 Wednesday afternoon there was an emergency call from a location near 2100 block of Salem Road. The log from the Law Center reports it as a motor vehicle accident with injuries. But KILJ also received information that at that same time there was a report of a 13 year old falling in the water possibly from a capsized boat near 2140 Salem Road. So far we don’t have any other information on the incident.
