Evelyn M. Syfert, 93, of Keosauqua, formerly of Fairfield and Birmingham died at 5:55 A.M. Sunday September 6, 2015 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. She was born May 26, 1922 in rural Keosauqua to Rex Vale and Goldie Gibson Kerr and married Glen N. Syfert on September 30, 1938 in Fairfield. He died December 25, 2005. They lived in Fairfield, Cherokee Village, AR and Birmingham. Evelyn entered Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua in 2008.

She was a long-time member of Fairfield Church of the Nazarene and had been a Sunday School teacher and choir member, had been a member of Fairfield Rebekah Lodge and cooked at Red & Ruth’s and Ranch Drive-in restaurants and worked many years at Fairfield Glove Company.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Johnson and Joyce Fulton both of Mt. Pleasant and Janice Sparks (Gary) of Fairfield, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Shull and a brother, Donald Kerr.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday September 10, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with her grandson, Chad Rath officiating. Visitation will open at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday with family present 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua.
