EUGENE ‘Bill’ ADAMS

Bill was born May 7, 1923 to Russell and Pearl Baker Adams at Columbus Junction, Iowa. He graduated from Conesville High School in 1941 and served in the US Marines in WW II with engagements in the South Pacific.

He married Gail Doudna in 1948 and graduated from Iowa State University in 1950. He worked in plywood plants in Darlington, SC and Wausau, WI before accepting a position with Brammer Mfg. Co. in Davenport where he retired after 25 years in 1983.

Bill was a member of Theta XI Fraternity, N.R.A., Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman.

Bill, age 92, of rural Bluegrass, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 11, 2015 while at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Adams; and a sister, Bernice Mundt.

He is survived by his wife, Gail of Bluegrass; a son, Gage D. Adams of Bluegrass; a daughter, Sammi Jo & Richard Luse of Melbourne, 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; his sister, Wanda Carsen of Columbus Junction; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Bill Adams will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. Pastor Troy Bendicks will officiate. The family will gather and greet friends the hour before the funeral and also at a luncheon following the burial service with military rites at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery.

A Memorial Fund has been established.
