The driver of an SUV was injured in a crash following a brief chase with police early this (Tuesday) morning in Mt. Pleasant. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Mount Pleasant Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation shortly after 1 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Washington. The SUV fled and the driver then lost control of the vehicle, striking a tree. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Caleb Kuster of Mt. Pleasant, was not wearing a seat belt and was flown by helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals.
