On 3/27/15 at approximately 13:30 hours, the Mt Pleasant PD conducted a traffic stop in the Wal Mart parking lot. During the stop, the driver identified as David Hand of Ft Madison was found to have a warrant out of Burlington IA. A passenger in the vehicle Crystal Becerra was present. An investigation revealed that they had been coming to Mt Pleasant to buy pseudoephedrine.

Mt Pleasant K-9 Riga came and alerted on the trunk area. The trunk was found to contain four meth labs and approximately several pounds of meth sludge.

Both subjects were arrested for Conspiracy to Manufacture more than 5 grams of Meth a Class B Felony. They were transported to the Henry County Jail where they held pending arraignment. This was the result of a long investigation of Hand. Numerous people are expected to be arrested in the following week.

Some of the information that resulted in these arrests came from the public calling in with information and it is greatly appreciated.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
