DES MOINES COUNTY CONSERVATION HIRES FRANCES OWEN AS NEW INTERPRETIVE NATURALIST FOR STARR’S CAVE NATURE CENTERWritten by Theresa Rose on April 7, 2015
Des Moines County Conservation is excited to announce that Frances Owen will be filling the position of Interpretive Naturalist at Stars Cave Nature Center. Frances is replacing DMCC current naturalist Katherine Brakeville, and will begin her duties on April 6th. Owen will be responsible for environmental education throughout Des Moines County, including our ever popular summer camps at Starr’s Cave.
Des Moines County Conservation is pleased to welcome Frances to our team of dedicated staff. Frances brings a wealth of knowledge and a diverse set of skills and experiences that will strengthen and enhance the education programs offered at Starr’s Cave Nature Center. Owen graduated from Fort Hays State University with a M.S. in Biology and has her B.S. from the University of Dubuque in Biology and Environmental Science. She has previously worked in Cerro Gordo and Dickinson County as an assistant Naturalist and Environmental Education intern.
