DAR Meets in July

Reports were given on the Chapter’s May gathering at Patriot Charles Shepherd’s Memorial in Mt. Pleasant’s Forest Home Cemetery, and June’s Eldon trip, to visit the American Gothic House and Museum.


Recognition certificates were presented to Patricia Brown in recognition of 91,000+ entries in the Indexing Project, and to Waunita Gibbons for her donation of four pages of marriage records.


Pat White presented a program entitled DAR Historic Markers in Henry County, highlighting when and where historic markers have been placed around the county by the James Harlan Chapter.


The SE District Meeting will be Thursday, September 22nd in Washington, Iowa.


The next regular meeting will be September 24th at the Fellowship Cup in Mt. Pleasant, with Martha Allen presenting a historical display of the Chapter Scrapbooks.


Other members in attendance:  Mary Savage, Helen See, Becky Wright, Laura May Beattie, Wilma Lewis Whitham, Sylvia Ridinger, Dianna Klaus, Sylvia Blaesing and Pam Schinstock.
