Couple Arrested After Attempted Suicide ReportWritten by Theresa Rose on March 13, 2015
Friday morning just after midnight, the Lee County Sheriff’s office was called to investigate what was reported as an attempted suicide. The incident began as a domestic dispute between John and Tharisica Crofoot. Upon arrival at 1549 Hwy 2, Donnellson, officers discovered Thariscia in her bedroom with three large dogs. John was later found walking on Hwy 2 with a gunshot wound to his head. It was determined the wound was self-inflicted. He was taken to Ft. Madison hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in Iowa City. Thariscia had visible injuries to her face. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. It was determined the couple was intoxicated. Thariscia Crofoot was charged with interference with official acts and domestic abuse assault charges are pending against John Crofoot.
