Keep Iowa Beautiful Announces Beautification Grants

DES MOINES – Keep Iowa Beautiful (KIB) has announced $80,000 in grants for the 2015 Community Beautification program. This is the fifth year of the grant program that provides a major boost for community beautification and enhancement in communities of 5,000 and under.

“These dollars are helping build stronger communities by improving the economic vitality and cultural climate of our Iowa communities,” said Gerry Schnepf, Executive Director of KIB. “In the five year history of the Beautification Grant Program $400,000 has been awarded to over 90 communities in Iowa,” he added, “building stronger more vibrant and beautiful communities.”

Funding and reimbursement is available for expenses incurred only after July 1, 2015 and the project must be completed by June 30, 2016. Grant requests cannot exceed $5,000. Funding is authorized by the Iowa Legislature to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources from the Solid Waste Alternative Program (SWAP).
