City Council Will Deliberate Dog Removal Order in Closed Session

The Mt. Pleasant City Council will meet Monday at noon in closed session at city hall.  The purpose is to discuss an order to remove a dog at 302 E. Old Orchard.  The owner appealed the order at the last regular meeting of the council.  According to a neighbor, the dog attacked her and bit her when she was walking past 302 E. Orchard. The dog owner said this was not true.  It was decided that the closed session under Iowa Code Sec. 21.5 (f) was needed due to several discrepancies in the owner’s and the neighbor’s versions of what happened and the large about of documentation presented to the council.  The council will then have three days to render a decision as to whether or not the order to remove the dog will be upheld.  But judging by the agenda, the council hopes to come to a decision Monday on coming out of the closed session.
