Charles Warren “Charlie” Buford

Charles Warren “Charlie” Buford, 83, of rural Donnellson, Iowa passed away at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Donnellson Health Center.

 

Born August 6, 1932 in Rutledge, Missouri the son of Chester and Orvetta (Spoor) Buford. On January 25, 1959 he married Janet Schreiber.

 

Survivors include his wife Janet of 57 years, two sons Jeff (Wendy) Buford of Donnellson, David (Lori) Buford of Bonaparte, one daughter; Mary (Bill) Allaman of Oquawka, Illinois, eight grandchildren; Travis (Kara) Buford, Jill (Troy) DeRoos, Tyler Buford, Justin Allaman, Rachael Allaman, Nick Buford, Danielle (Jake) McQuoid and Holly Bevier, four great grandchildren; Ben Buford, Shanna Buford, Madison Hassman and Bentley McQuoid. Also surviving is one sister; Juanita Roberson of Fort Worth, Texas and sisters-in-law; Eunice Buford, Amah Lou Schreiber, Rose Schreiber and one brother-in-law; Gale Schreiber all of Kahoka, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Carol Buford, grandson; Zachary Bevier and brother; Harlan Buford.

 

Charlie was a graduate of Revere High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and a rural mail carrier in the RR2 Donnellson area from which he retired in 1992. Charlie was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. He enjoyed family, wheeler rides, auctions, antiques and family history.

 

Friends may call after 1:00 pm Friday, June 10, 2016 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa  where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Jamey Stout officiating.

 

Burial will be at the Embury Cemetery in rural Donnellson, Iowa.

 

Memorials have been established in his memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Embury Cemetery.
