Charles Stickels

Charles A. Stickels, 77, of Douds died Saturday evening, November 28, 2015 while hunting north of Douds. He was born November 14, 1938 in Winterset to Russell and Cora Davis Stickels and married Pearl Phelps August 6, 1960 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA.

Charles graduated from Vinton High School and attended Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. He worked as a welder and foreman for Alliant Energy in Fairfield and other locations. He had served in the United State Army where he was stationed in Germany. He had served on the fire department while living in Williamsburg, IA, was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, had been a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader in Fairfield, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and all other outdoor activities and especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Stickels moved to Douds in 2000.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Victor Stickels (Cheryl) of Fairfield and Regan Stickels (Ann) of Libertyville, two grandchildren, Jennifer Krause (Scott) of Birmingham and Ryan Stickels (Ashtine) of Stockport and three great-grandchildren, Skye and Rory Krause and Brooke Stickels, a brother, Johnnie Stickels (Sheila) of Vinton and two sisters, Dixie Wayson (Jack) of Vinton and Billie Jans of Dysart. He was preceded in death by a sister LaVon Johnson.

His body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. A gathering of family and friends will be at a later date. Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds is assisting the family.
