Chamber Alliance announces schedule of 2016 Legislative Forum Series

MOUNT PLEASANT—The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Government Affairs Committee is once again affording Henry County residents the opportunity to share their views with state lawmakers at a series of public forums during the Iowa legislative session.

Monthly legislative forums will be held from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. the fourth Saturdays of January, February, March, and April. All forums are held in the International Room of Chadwick Library at Iowa Wesleyan University.

Rep. Dave Heaton, R-Mount Pleasant, and Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mount Pleasant, are scheduled to attend the events. Other special guests also are expected to participate.

Each forum will center on a topic of interest to Henry County residents. The planned schedule is as follows:

Saturday, February 27 Taxes / State Budget

Saturday, March 26 Healthcare

Saturday, April 23 Housing, Wages, & Workforce

The series kicks off January 23rd around the topic of Education & Workforce Development. David File, President of the Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission, will moderate the discussion. Confirmed panelists include Principal Jason Martinez from Mount Pleasant Middle School and Dr. DeWayne Frazier, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Iowa Wesleyan University. Additional panelists are anticipated.
