Fairfield, (Iowa) – In celebration of their 25th anniversary, the Chamber Singers of Southeast Iowa warmly invite everyone to join them on a Silver Jubilee World Harmony Concert Tour across seven continents on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sondheim Theater in Fairfield.
Pack your imagination and get on board for a multicultural, worldwide choral adventure, where each song on the concert program captures the cultural essence of its region of the globe. Renowned voice actor Jeffrey Hedquist will serve as the audience’s pilot and tour guide. In addition to beautiful a cappella songs, this around-the-world concert tour will feature the Silver Jubilee Band, pianist Lise Marcell, solo performances by Tim Britton and the Foliba Drum Ensemble, cultural dances from India and Thailand, and other delightful surprises.
In their 25 years of community performances, the Chamber Singers have performed over 500 choral works from 40 countries, in styles ranging from Renaissance polyphony to classical works to modern pop and vocal jazz settings, with a wide range of world music included. In their Silver Jubilee concerts, the Chamber Singers will take the audience through the ever-expanding musical delights of 17 countries, including Peru and Brazil, many European and African nations, and Asian countries such as Inner Mongolia, Thailand, India, and China.

“We are so excited to be sharing the joy of our 25th anniversary through a wonderfully diverse and uplifting program,” says Elaine Reding, director of the Chamber Singers. “We’ve been fortunate across the years to have explored the musical richness of so many cultures, with their unique languages and distinctive melodies, harmonies, and rhythmic structures. Taken together, these musical traditions give voice to our entire world family of nations. The Silver Jubilee World Harmony Tour will serve as an exhilarating culmination of our deep appreciation for global cultural creativity and celebration in music.”
With the gracious support of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, the Chamber Singers warmly invite the whole community to enjoy a world of song in one evening—and to celebrate a 25-year choral tradition in Southeast Iowa.
