Mt. Pleasant residential Christmas pickup is taking place this week in conjunction with the normal garbage pickup. Please put your live tree on the curb. Make sure plastic coverings, decorations and tinsel have been removed. You may take advantage of this service even if you don't usually use the city's garbage collection services.
VFW AUXILIARY 2561 meets at 1 pm at Post Building in Mt. Pleasant.
Mt. Pleasant Veterans Hall hosts Walk In Bingo every Monday at 6:30 pm. The Public is welcome. Each game sold separately. Play as much or as little as you want.

Everyone is invited to a community soup supper at the Parish Hall, 201 Academy Avenue in Swedesburg. From 5-7 p.m., a freewill donation will be taken for Luther League activities. There will be a gift drawing as well.
The Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge serves tacos every Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 pm. Tacos, taco salad and walking tacos. $6 each. Dine in or carry out.
The Mt. Pleasant Christian School on East Washington Street serves tacos every Tuesday from 5-7 pm. Soft shell tacos, walking tacos, super nachos, chips and homemade salsa, cookies, pop and water. Dine in or carry out and order ahead at 319-385-8613.

The meal this Wednesday at the Fellowship Cup will be hosted by Wellspring Evangelical Church. They will serve Hamburger casserole, Macaroni salad and Green beans.
Henry County Health Center's Diabetes Team will be offering a Diabetes Review Course tomorrow. Call the HCHC Diabetes Education Center at 319-385-6518 by noon today to sign up. The program is open to anyone who has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and has completed the 10-hour diabetes classes.
Iowa Wesleyan University will host a Regional Town Hall meeting to provide an update on the University's Alternative Futures Project and partnership process. The public is invited. The meeting will be held in the Social Hall on campus from 5-6 pm.
The Mt. Pleasant City Council meets at 5:30 pm in the second floor meeting room of the library/civic center where city hall is located.
The regular meeting of the H.J. Nugen Library Board will be held at 6 pm at the Library. The public is welcome.
The New London VFW serves tacos every Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 pm.

WACO Junior/Senior High students will host a J Term Showcase from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the JH/HS in Wayland.

There are two opportunities to give blood in Mt. Pleasant today....at the Henry County Health Center in the Education center from 11 am to 2 pm and at The REC Center in the meeting room from 3:15 to 5:45 pm.
The public is invited to the WMU J-Term Showcase on Friday from 12:00 - 2:00. There were 14 activities plus job shadows.
The Crawfordsville Fire Department's Chili and Cheesy Potato Soup Supper will be from 4 to 7 pm. Free will offering.
The Mt. Pleasant Junior class will be hosting a soup supper and baked goods silent auction during the boys and girls basketball games vs Fairfield at the Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Soups will include baked potato, chili, and cheese. Funds will be used for prom expenses.
The Mt. Pleasant Veterans Hall presents Two For the Show with Mark Williams and Dean King. Come enjoy a fish, chicken, or shrimp dinner serving from 5:30 to 8 pm. The music will start around 7. This event is open to the public.

The Harlan Lincoln House is having a docent training session today from 8 am to 12 pm. Individuals interested in volunteering as docents at the HLH are asked to complete one training session per year.
Set designer for Mount Pleasant Community Theater's production of Guys and Dolls, Dawn Wiley, will be working on the set every Saturday from 9:30 am to 2 pm at the Heatilator Performing Arts Center, 307 E. Monroe St. in Mt. Pleasant through February 9. All are welcome except children under 14 years old, and experience is helpful but not necessary. Those attending are asked to wear closed toed shoes and clothes you can work in. New London VFW Post hosts a catfish & chicken dinner from 5 to 7:30 pm. Catfish is $9.50, chicken is $7 and all white chicken is $8. Dinner includes: roll & choice of 2 Sides: French fries, baked beans or coleslaw.

The Friends of Geode meet at 1 pm at Events on Main in New London at 1 pm. Plans for future fundraisers will be the main topic of discussion.
The annual Mt. Pleasant High School Music Department variety will feature music and fun as the high school students share their various talents. The show at 2 pm will include the Middle School Jazz Band and Show Choir. The 4 pm show will include the High School Jazz bands and show choir. Tickets are $5 for both shows and $3 for one show and are available at the door.
