The WACO concert that was originally scheduled for February 28 has been rescheduled for today. This concert includes fifth and sixth grade bands, seventh and eighth grade band starting at 6:30 pm; the high school band, seventh and eighth grade chorus, and the high school chorus concert starts at 7:30.
The Mt. Pleasant Public Library is having a Read and Play event from 11:15 am to noon today. Read stories, sing songs and play, while learning how to develop your child's literacy skills, as well as encourage learning through play.
Mt. Pleasant Veterans Hall hosts Walk In Bingo every Monday at 6:30 pm. The Public is welcome. Each game sold separately. Play as much or as little as you want.

The Friends of the Harlan Lincoln House's Brown Bag Lecture Series continues today. All of the Brown Bag Lectures are held at noon in the International Room of Chadwick Library at Iowa Wesleyan University. Lectures are free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch. Join Anna Villareal today to explore the narratives, from heartwarming to thrilling, of the families and IW presidents who called 611 West Washington Street their home.
Sign-up for New London Little League, T-ball, baseball and softball for girls and boys in grades pre-k thru 6th grade will be held from 6-8 pm at the New London Fire Station. Sign-up will also be held March 14 from 6-8 and March 16 from 9 am to 11:30 am.
Mt. Pleasant Elementary Chorus Festival will be held at 7 pm at the High School.
Taco Tuesday at the Mt. Pleasant Christian School from 5 to 7 pm. Serving soft shell tacos, walking tacos, super nachos, chips and homemade salsa. Dine in, or to go. Call ahead at 385-8613.
The Mt. Pleasant Moose serves tacos every Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 pm. Tacos, taco salad and walking tacos $6 each. Dine in or to go.

2019 Mt Pleasant Dessert Theatre is having an advance ticket sale today in the Mt. Pleasant High School Commons from 6 to 7 pm. After that, tickets may be purchased at Brown's Shoe Fit from the 14 to the 30. The Dessert Theatre will perform Saturday, March 30th at 7 pm and Sunday, March 31st at 2 pm. Admission is $10 per person.
Alive After Five will be hosted by Midwest Old Threshers at the Mount Pleasant Main Street Cinemas from 5 to 7 pm. Old Threshers will announce the country music entertainment line-up for the 2019 Reunion.
Tacos are served up every Wednesday at the New London VFW from 5 to 7:30 pm.

Everyone is invited to the Houghton Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry from 5 to 8 pm at the KC Hall in Houghton.
The Birmingham Homecoming will host their annual Fish Fry today at the Birmingham Lions Building from 5 to 7 pm. Tickets are $9 for adults, and kids 6 and under are free. All proceeds go to support the Birmingham Homecoming Celebration.
The Troubadors, Stan and friends will be on stage at 6:30pm at the Veterans Hall, 300 West Monroe Street in Mt. Pleasant. Chicken, cat fish and shrimp served from 5:30 to 8pm.

The Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club is having a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast today from 6:30 to 11 am at the United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Ticket cost is free will donation by voting with your dollars for your favorite school. $1000 will go to the winning school. There will also be drawings for prizes, including boys and girls bikes, Adventureland and Rec Center passes, and more. All net proceeds will go toward youth projects in Henry County.
There is a community open house regarding the Winfield Mt. Union Bond Referendum from 9 to 11 am at the Pilot Grove Bank building across the street from the bank. This is the building the school district would like to purchase. This open house is also a chance to view the building.

Van Buren County Extension will be hosting a beekeeping class held at the Keosauqua Senior Center, 801 Front Street, today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one hour lunch break (lunch will not be provided). Registration is required with a $5 fee, payable at the door. Verne Ramsey, Keosauqua, will be assisting Joy Westercamp with the program. If you plan to attend this class, please call the Van Buren County Extension office at 319-293-3039.

The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra presents the final concert series of the season. There will be a concert at 7:30 pm at the Capital Theater in Burlington and two concerts on Sunday....at 2 pm at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa and at 6:30 pm at the Iowa Wesleyan University Chapel.
Hillsboro Fire and Rescue is hosting a Pancake Supper and Bingo night tonight. Supper will be provided from 5 - 7 PM. Bingo is from 7 - 9 PM. A free will donations will help the Hillsboro Fire Department.
Lockridge Lions Club annual soup supper and auction serving from 5 to 7 pm at the Lockridge Community Center. Auction starts at 6:30 pm.

March 17 St. Patrick's Day
The Mt. Pleasant Music Department presents "To Those Who Serve...An American Salute" at 2 pm at the Mt. Pleasant High School.
Before and after the Mt. Pleasant High School Band Concert the seniors and their parents are selling raffle tickets to help support After-Prom activities at MPCHS. Tickets cost $10 each with the chance to win one of 4 - $500 prizes. Drawing will be held April 8, during the School Board Meeting.
Enjoy a St. Patty's Dinner at the Bonaparte Opera House from 4 to 7 pm. They will be serving corned beef and cabbage, beef stew, corn bread, homemade desserts, and drinks for a free will offering.
The New London VFW is having a St. Patrick's Dinner. Serving corned beef, cabbage and Irish potatoes from 4-7:30 pm or until gone. Free will donation. Proceeds will be used to support New London High School Scholarships.

The Annual St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Missouri, kicks off at 8 am with the Celebration of Holy Eucharist. The events continue throughout the day at the Shrine of St. Patrick- at 9:30 am, there will be a St. Patrick historical video preservation in the church basement and museum. At 10 am, the Leprechaun 5K Run/Walk begins. From 10:30 am to 12 pm there will be Irish music featuring Roger, Aaron, and Joel Watson- then from 12 to 1 pm there will be Irish music featuring Judy Schmidt. Tours of the church and museum start at 11:30 am with Jason Richmond. From 1 to 1:30 pm there will be a Children's Cake Walk with a grab bag raffle. The closing ceremony with Fr. Rob Fields will be at 2 pm.
