Danville Founder's Day celebration has been postponed to October 19th.
There will be Breakfast on Main Street in Bonaparte today! Visit the Opera House from 7 to 9 am for a delicious free will breakfast.
The Winfield Presbyterian Church Big Basement Sale will be held from 8am – noon.
The Mt. Pleasant Farmer's Market is open from 8:30 to 11 am at McMillan Park under the Wright Pavilion. There will be a Rome Days free will donation breakfast served starting at 7:30 am. Serving pancakes and biscuits and gravy, coffee, oj and hot chocolate.
The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open every Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the end of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.
The Mt.Pleasant Kiwanis group is sponsoring the Annual Young Eagles Fly-In at the Mt. Pleasant airport from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Ages are 8 to 17 and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to take a free airplane ride.
Henry County Habitat for Humanity is bringing the Restore Truck to Mt. Pleasant. From 10 am to 2 pm you may drop off unwanted items such as appliances, building materials, furniture, left over construction supplies, etc. The truck will be at the E3 Center parking lot on East Washington Street. Donated goods are sold at the Fairfield ReStore and funds come back to Henry County for home building projects.
The Steve and Mary Hoyer home, at 202 W. Oak in Salem, will host an open house from 1-4 pm today and Sunday. The open house will showcase the newly built home's solar system. Their home is one of four in Iowa that are part of the American Solar Energy Association national solar tour.
Salem Friends Church will host its' annual hay ride beginning at 3:30 pm. Following the hayride there will be a chili and dessert potluck with hot dogs and s'mores provided. This is a free, family friendly event and everyone is welcome.
Hometown Pride Louisa County has an art show at the Morning Sun Community Center. Free and open to the public. Art will be on display today from 10am to 4pm. A reception will be held from 6 to 8 pm.
New London Municipal Utilities are having a Utility Open House today from 11 AM to 1 PM. Hot dogs, chips, drinks, and dessert will be provided in the New London City Park Shelter House. Tour the Wind Turbine, Diesel Generation Plant, and Water Treatment Plant and learn how your municipal utility takes care of you!
The Dover Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm through October. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The museum is air conditioned and handicap accessible.

The Henry County 4H Teen Council is sponsoring a Barnyard Olympics 5K or one mile fun run and walk fundraiser. The family friendly event will be held at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant beginning at 5 pm at the Hayward Shelter House. Registration is $25. All ages are welcome.
The 68th Annual God’s Acre Sale is today and tomorrow in St. Paul. The charity auction begins tonight with the HTC Junior Class serving a Pork Loin Dinner, made by the Lee County Pork Producers, starting at 5 p.m.
The charity auction will begin at 6 p.m. They will be raffling off a Pro Series 575 Pellet Grill. Raffle tickets are $20 each. The drawing for the pellet grill will be held at 10:30 p.m.
The Bentonsport Presbyterian Church is having a homecoming of musical talent tonight at 6:30 pm. Free will donation.
Thrashers House of Terror will be open tonight from 6 pm to midnight. Tickets are $10 per person or $15 for the fast pass. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
New London Homecoming Dance will be held from 8 pm to 11:30 pm in the street in front of the High School. It will be moved to Clark Elementary in case of rain.
