U.S. Senator Joni Ernst will hold a town hall meeting in Lee County at 3:30 pm at the Plaza Three Cinema in Keokuk, 300 Main Street. Senator Ernst looks forward to hearing from constituents in the area about the issues most important to them. This town hall meeting is open to the public.
Friends of Henry County Health Center invites the public to attend the Annual Fall Soup Supper and Bake Sale from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. The evening’s menu offers chili soup, chicken noodle soup, or baked potato bar, relish, crackers, dessert and drink. The price is $9 for a choice of two entrees, $7 for one entrée, and a children’s menu for ages 5 and under is $2. Take out is available. In addition to the soup supper, there will be baked goods, as well as used jewelry for sale. The HCHC Gift Shop will also have a preview of some of the Christmas items that are available in the Gift Shop.
The Villages Folk School Bottomless Bowls is tonight at the Stone House in Bentonsport. All you can eat soup, homemade bread, and desserts from 5 to 7 pm. $25 suggested donation for handmade bowl to keep, or freewill offering for a disposable bowl.
Mt Pleasant First Assembly of God is having a Free Family Movie Night tonight at 6:30 pm. They'll be playing 'The Little Rascals'. There will be free popcorn!
There will be a costume contest with prizes during the Houghton Knights of Columbus fish fry. The fish fry is from 5 to 8 pm. Judging is at 6:45 for adults and children. The Lee County Rural Life Club will have a Halloween party following the fish fry. Come eat fish and stay for the party. Costume judging at 10:30 am.
The Haunted School begins tonight in the former Bonaparte School at 602 8th St! They'll be open from 7 to 11 pm. Tickets are $10. Recommended ages 12 and up.

Comedy Night is tonight at Fat Jimmy’s Smokehouse three miles south of Montrose on River Road. Headliner is Clay Foley, a Central-Lee grad and professional comedian, from Champaign, IL. His friends Kyle Fields, Springfield, and James Draper, Rock Island, will complement Foley’s comedic observations. The show begins at 9 pm when Fat Jimmy’s kitchen closes; bar service will continue. Central-Lee’s Science Club is presenting the Illinois comedians as a fund-raiser for student-research projects, science events and the June trip to Alaska. Tickets at the door are $25.
