Founders Day, will celebrate Danville's heritage with food, activities, and entertainment for all ages. Firefighters pancake breakfast, "Fire Up The Smoker" BBQ contest, corn hole tournament, classic car and tractor show, kids game area with bounce house and petting zoo, quilt display at the Dodds Insurance building, bingo, pie baking contest, and musical entertainment from the No Name Band. The day’s activities will take place at the Danville City Park, Community Building and Fire Station. Sponsored by the Danville Lions Club.
The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open every Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. The site is located southwest of Saunders Park at the end of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.
Appleberry Orchard is having Bob the Builder weekend today and tomorrow! Come see all kinds of construction equipment including backhoes, bulldozers, dumptrucks, skidloaders, and much more. They're open from 9 am to 7 pm.
Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation is hosting a low-cost Microchip and Vaccination Clinic from 11:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. The clinic will be held at the Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation, 1986 Gear Avenue in Fairfield. No appointment is necessary.
The Dover Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm through October. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The museum is air conditioned and handicap accessible.
Rich Seberg, Director of Midwest Old Thresher’s North Village, will be presenting a program on the Past, Present & Future of that special place at 2 pm at the Henry County Museum. Rich will entertain with dozens of photos and stories about the North Village and plans for its future. The Museum is located 403 West Madison Street, Mount Pleasant. There will be also free refreshments.
Skunk River Ranch at 2240 Salem Road, 4.5 miles east of the stub, will host the 2019 Buckle Series Rodeo with two performances at 3 pm and 6 pm. Concession will be available on the grounds. For more information check Skunk River Ranch facebook page.
The Hillsboro Fire Department's Soup Supper and Bingo is tonight in the Hillsboro Community Center! The supper will be from 5 to 7 pm, and bingo will follow from 7 to 9 pm.
7th annual New London Monster Mash 5k Run/walk is tonight from 5:30 to 8 pm! It will be located at the City Park. Registration forms are located at the city office and at the public library in New London. All proceeds raised will go towards the 2019 New London Holiday Stroll.
The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will present their inaugural Masterworks Series concert of its 69th season, Gaelic Lands. Performances will be held tonight at 7:30 PM at the Capitol Theater in Burlington; tomorrow at 2 PM at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa; and tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM in the Iowa Wesleyan University Chapel Auditorium in Mt. Pleasant. Season tickets are $55 while single-concert tickets are $20 for adults. Children and students through age 22 are free. The Midwest Haunted Rails continues tonight! They will be open from 6 to 10:30 pm. Tickets are $12 per person and get you unlimited rides on the Ghost Train, Ghostly Trolley, Haunted Carousel, and other activities! (games, food, and Thrashers House of Terror not included). Ages four and under get in free.
Thrashers House of Terror will be open tonight from 6 pm to midnight. Tickets are $10 per person or $15 for the fast pass. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Madness in the Machine Shed is open today from 8 pm to midnight. They are located at the corner of Hwy 78 and Nebraska Ave in Winfield. Admission is $10, and children 14 and younger must have adult supervision.
