The Twenty~Forty Sunday Study Class of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant will host a display of Classic and Collector cars in the church parking lot today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Members of the class will be grilling and have the extras for lunch, available for a free-will donation. Those donations will be given to the local food pantry at The Fellowship Cup. There will be a bouncy house for the kids. Cars will be from members, friends and family. The 68th Annual God’s Acre Sale continues today in St. Paul. The auction resumes at noon starting with the grain sales. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. A lunch stand will be open throughout the afternoon and evening, serving turkey and roast beef sandwiches and homemade pies. Raffles for a Grand Prize of $5000 cash and a second $1000 cash prize is today. Tickets are $20 each or six (6) for $100 and are available the day of the auction or can be purchased from members of the parish. Winner does not need to be present to win. St. James Quilters will be selling raffle tickets for a queen size hand pieced and quilted quilt. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. These are available the day of the sale also, or from any quilter.
The Dover Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm through October. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The museum is air conditioned and handicap accessible.
The Evangelism Committee is sponsoring a hayride for the Swedesburg community tonight. Meet at the parish hall (201 Academy Avenue in Swedesburg) for the rides and yard games from 4 to 6 p.m., as well as enjoying roasting hot dogs over a bonfire. Bring a friend!
Son Shine Academy's Annual Ice Cream Social is today from 5 to 6:30 pm at Faith Lutheran Church. There will be beef burgers, hot dogs, fruit, veggies, lots of homemade desserts, and homemade ice cream. There will be a silent auction for original artwork by the Son Shine classes, and free will donations will be accepted for the Son Shine's Scholarship Fund and Community Outreach. Everyone is invited!
Players Workshop of Burlington will hold open auditions for the classic Christmas comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever today and tomorrow from 6 to 8 pm. at the Workshop at 1431 Grove St. in Burlington. Production dates are Dec. 6-8 and 12-15. Parts are available for 4 males, ages 25 -50; 4 females, ages 30 – 65; 8 boys and 9 girls, ages 6 – 15; plus a children's chorus.
