The Washington County Fair runs July 14 through the 19th. Events today include the 1 pm Truck and ATV Mud Drag south of the grandstands, the 3 to 5 pm quilting block contest at the Old Schoolhouse, and the 7 pm Washington County Queen Contest. The Dover Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm through October. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The museum is air conditioned and handicap accessible.
Green Mound Church is having an Ice Cream Singspiration today at 6 pm. There will be hymn singing in the sanctuary, and then they will move to the basement for food and fellowship.
This week’s concert of the Burlington Municipal Band will be conducted by Edward Stone band director Janel Harms. The concert will include the annual visit from the Nauvoo Pageant Bagpipe Band. The concert will be at the Crapo Park band shell. The piper’s portion of the concert will begin at 6:45 PM so be sure to come early. The Muni Band and the bagpipers will perform together beginning at 7:30 PM followed by the regular Muni Band concert. This family-friendly event is free of charge – bring a lawn chair, blanket or sit on provided benches.
