Join the Villages of Van Buren for the 19th annual Fly Van Buren! The Fly-In breakfast will be held at the Keosauqua Municipal Airport today from 7–10 am. This year, there is a special open house for the NEW Keosauqua Municipal Airport Hangar! The Keosauqua Lions Club will be serving an all-you-can-eat Pancake & Sausage Breakfast from 7-10 am. Adults $7, Children ages 5-10 are $4, and children 4 and under eat free. Rain or shine. All pilots are invited to Fly-In for a FREE breakfast! The Ottumwa Radio-Control Flyers will be demonstrating their flying skills with remote control airplanes. Indian Hills Aviation Department will be on site with information about pursuing an exciting career in Aviation and have free styrofoam gliders for the kids. Air Evac helicopter will be on display. There will be door prize drawings for 2 Airplane Rides (to be scheduled at a later date.) All children under 12 will receive a coupon for a free small ice cream cone from Misty’s Malt Shop in Keosauqua. There will be fun games and prizes for the kids. The Mount Pleasant City compost site is open every Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. The site is located southwest of Saunders Park and the end of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.
The Mt. Pleasant Farmer's Market is open from 8:30 to 11 am at McMillan Park under the Wright Pavilion.
Swedeseburg and Olds are having the S.O. Fun Day today from 9 am to 12 pm! From 9 to 10:30 am, they will have kids crafts and activities, including face painting and bike decorating, at the Olds Church of Christ. At 10:30 am, the fun run/walk/bike ride starts, and the wagon ride leaves for Swedesburg. From 10:30 am to 12 pm there will be outdoor games, an obstacle course, bounce house, and more at the Swedesburg Parish Hall! They will have a light lunch, and then wagon/hay rack rides will be provided back to Olds.
The 2nd Annual Franklin Car Show and Tractor Show (new this year) and Craft/Vendor Show takes place today from 9 am to 2 pm! Registration for the car and tractor show is from 9 to 11. Judging will be done by 1 pm and awards will be at 1:30. Pre sign up is $15 per vehicle, which include a T-shirt - day of is $20 per vehicle. The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event Planning Team is hosting a Perk Up Your Team Registration Event today from 10:30 am until noon at Dunn Brothers Coffee in Burlington.
The Longest Day of Bridge, to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association, will be held Monday, June 17. Anyone who would like to play in one, two or three of the sessions can call Lee Bradley at 931-0671.
The Dover Museum in New London is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. There is no charge and the facility is handicap accessible.

Learn about the history of the telephone and telephone operators in a free presentation by Chris Ricciotti, curator of the Rockland, Maryland Telephone Museum. His program, “Weavers of Speech”, will be given today at 2 pm at the Henry County Museum, 203 North White Street in Mount Pleasant. The museum will be open from 1 to 4 pm that day.
