There will be a Legislative Breakfast at the Iowa Wesleyan University Chadwick Library from 8:30 to 10 am. Senator Rich Taylor and Representative Joe Mitchell will be there. Everyone is welcome.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt today at Indian Lake Park in Farmington starting at 10 am for children ages 0-12.
The First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant is having a Rummage and Bake sale today from 8 am to 1 pm. All items are 50 cents unless otherwise marked. There will be a $2 a bag sale starting at 11 am.
Diego Chuyma (chwee-ma) will be installed as Pastor at Salem Friends Church at 6:30 pm. All area pastors and residents of Salem and the surrounding communities are invited to attend and meet Pastor Diego and his family. The Chuymas have moved to Salem after serving as missionaries in Bolivia for the past 20 years.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Lee County is hosting a Beginning Beekeeper Course today from 8 am to 5 pm at the Lee County Extension Office in Donnellson. This one-day course is open to all interested individuals and will be led by Southeast Iowa Beekeepers, Dave and Ray Tull. The Lee County Extension Office is excited to share Ray and Dave’s knowledge and experience with other to help beginning beekeepers get started. Participants are required to pre-register. The fee for the course is $25/individual or $35/couple (sharing a book), which will cover the cost for books and refreshments. Registrations and payments will be taken until the class is full. The 2019 Mt. Pleasant Quilt Show is going on today and tomorrow at Iowa Wesleyan University. Today they will be going strong from 9 am to 5 pm, and tomorrow from 1 to 4 pm. There will be vendors, shoppers boutique, door prizes, demonstrations, and lunch will be provided. Admission is $5, and the event is handicapped accessible. The Bonaparte Library is having their Annual Dinner Theatre fundraiser at the former Harmony Elementary building. The doors open at 6pm and dinner is served at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $25 and reservations are required- call 319-931-2766.
The 2019 Mt Pleasant Dessert Theatre presents "The Generation Gap" today at 7 pm and tomorrow at 2 pm. Admission is $10 per person and may be purchased at Brown's Shoe Fit.
The Milton Lions Chili and Grilled Cheese Supper is tonight from 5 to 7 pm at the American Legion Bldg., 320 N. Main St., Milton.
The Stockport United Methodist Church is hosting a delicious pancake supper from 5 to 7 pm in the church basement. This event is free will offering and carry outs are available. Bring the whole family to help with this fun fundraiser!
The Embury United Methodist Church is holding their Embury Soup Supper tonight from 4 to 7 pm. They will have a delicious selection of soups, sandwiches, and desserts, for a free will donation. Proceeds will go to an Embury Technical Scholarship.
The New London High School presents the spring musical 'She Loves Me' at the NLHS Auditorium today at 7 pm, and Sunday at 3:30 pm. The doors will open half an hour before the show. Tickets are $5 for adults and students, and children under the age of 5 are free.
SCC music and drama students present "Into the Woods" at the Burlington Capitol Theater at 7 pm. With cameos from classic Brothers Grimm characters such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, the story follows a couple who go on a scavenger hunt through the woods to reverse a curse put on them by a witch. Tickets will be available at the door. Regular tickets are $10, tickets for children and students are $7.
