The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance will host the first Legislative Breakfast of the 2019 session from 8:30 am to 10 am at the Iowa Wesleyan Chadwick Library.Senator Rich Taylor and Representative Joe Mitchell will be there to share the latest from Des Mines and hear comments and concerns.
Three Rivers Antique Tractor Club is sponsoring a tractor display inside at Westland Mall in West Burlington 9 am to 9 pm and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. Everyone is welcome but if you want to bring a tractor please contact Dan Miller 319-470-8496.
The 6th Annual STEMFEST will take place at SCC in West Burlington from 10 am to 1 pm. STEMFEST is free and open to all kids and adults. There will be lots of hands-on activities, exhibits and demonstrations exploring careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
The Bonaparte Music Bonanza will be held today at 7pm in the Bonaparte School Building. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. For advance tickets call 641-233-7917. There will be a 5pm soup supper in the cafeteria prior to the show.
The Birmingham Lions Club will have their annual soup supper today at the Lions Building from 5 to 7 pm. They will be serving chili, vegetable, potato, and oyster soup. there will also be a relish tray, dessert, and beverages, all for $5. Everyone is welcome and all proceeds will go towards Lion events. Musical entertainment will be provided by Steve Head and Pat Sharman from Milan, Missouri.
Iowa Wesleyan University will host the annual Just Desserts music department fundraiser in the Chapel at 7pm. This is the Greatest Show,will feature acts of every nature including musicians, dancers, comedians. There will be a live auction, courtesy of Your Dream Homes of Mount Pleasant. Following the show, there will be a reception with homemade desserts provided by the Mount Pleasant Chorale. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, or ahead of time from IW Choir members and at the Tiger Bookstore on campus, or at Brown’s Shoe Fit.
Three veteran Players Workshop actors will take to the stage to portray three retired World War I veterans in a French military hospital in Players Workshop of Burlington’s upcoming performance of the dramedy Heroes, on Feb. 22-24 and Feb. 28-Mar. 3, at the Workshop at 1431 Grove St. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., except for the two 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinees. The play is presented with special permission of Samuel French.
New London VFW hosts a Catfish & Chicken Dinner from 5 to 7:30 pm. Catfish is $9.50, cchicken is $7 and all white chicken is $8. Dinner includes: roll & choice of 2 sides from French Fries, Baked Beans & Coleslaw.
