The Winfield Presbyterian Church is having their Christmas Cookie and Candy walk from 8:30am to 11am.
The Mt. Pleasant Open Bible Church will be having their Cookie Walk from 8am to 12pm. The church is located on Cherry Street across the street from Van Allen School.
The Relay for Life Holiday Gift and Candy Sale will be from 8am to 2pm in the Community Center in Salem. They will have gifts, gift baskets, and homemade candy and cookies, plus door prize drawings all day. They will have lunch that includes soup or sandwich. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life.
Mt. Pleasant Winter Farmers Market 9 am to noon at the First United Methodist Church. Use the West doors. Look for the signs.
Mt. Pleasant Woman's Club Trees of Christmas open from 10 am to 4 pm today and Sunday noon to 4 pm at the Henry County Courthouse. Admission is $1 or a canned food item. Santa will be there from 1-3 pm each day.
The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra Hollydaze Concert, featuring holiday classics for orchestra and voices, will be held at the Iowa Wesleyan University Chapel Auditorium in Mt. Pleasant at 3 p.m. Admission is free and Santa Claus might just stop by!
The 28th Annual New London Holiday Stroll will take place from 5-8 pm along the three blocks of New London's Main Street. This year's theme is a "Disney Christmas." Many businesses and organizations have planned activities. There will also be lots happening at the Community Center, the library, the fire station and the City Office. There are also some new things happening including ice carving and an open house at the Masonic Lodge. One of the highlights is the crowning of the Ice Prince and Princess at 7 pm.
Louisa County Extension and the Louisa County 4H Youth Council have organized a Farm House Tour of Homes to benefit the Teen Council Scholarship from 4:30 to 8:30 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance from the Louisa Extension office and $12 that evening. The homes on the tour are: Jason and Adair Lents, Dustin & Whitney Howell, Justin & Jenny Humphreys, Doug & Vickie Wilson.
THE BIRMINGHAM VOL FIRE DEPT WILL HOST THE ANNUAL SOUP SUPPER AND VISIT FROM SANTA CLAUS STARTING AT 5PM TILL ?? HOME MADE CHILI AND VEGETABLE, BEVERAGE AND DESSERT FOR A FREE WILL OFFERING. A VISIT FROM SANTA WITH TREATS FOR THE KIDS ALONG WITH HOT CHOC, AND COOKIES.
The First Baptist Church will present The Road To Bethlehem. This outdoor live nativity dramatizes the events of Jesus’ birth. There will be 15 minute guided tours leaving every 7 minutes from 6-8 pm at 605 Tremont Street in Farmington. Baked goods, coffee and hot chocolate are available. There will be crafts for kids and backdrops for photographs.
Enjoy the wonderment of Christmas and kick off the holiday season with “Little Lion, Little Lamb. A Cantata for Christmas.” The choir and orchestra of the Calvary Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant invite you to attend this special Christmas cantata with music and drama on Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th. Saturday’s program begins at 5 pm and Sunday’s program starting at 6:30 pm. A free dessert reception will follow both performances in the church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome and encouraged to attend these free concerts. The church is located at 803 East Mapleleaf Drive in Mount Pleasant.
