Business Showcase & Job Fair in Mount Pleasant

features local goods and services, career opportunities

Mount Pleasant – The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce and Mount Pleasant Area Development Commission have combined efforts to shine a light on local businesses and employers. The Business Showcase & MP Job Fair takes place Wednesday, November 18th from 2pm to 7pm at the Howe Student Activity Center on the Iowa Wesleyan University campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Over 50 businesses and organizations will have booths filling the IWU gymnasium, some of them to exhibit their goods and services, others to discuss job opportunities with potential employees, and some to do both.

“The event was designed to maximize exposure to both businesses and employers, which gives the public a unique opportunity to learn about our great business community in one all-inclusive event,” said Melissa Flowers, Membership and Small Business Growth Coordinator of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance. “We’ve had an overwhelming response from sponsors, so we have been able to market the event heavily throughout the region.”

An assembly targeted to area students will also take place during the event. High school juniors and seniors from districts in Henry County will join college students in the Iowa Wesleyan Chapel to watch skits demonstrating “good” and “bad” job interviews and workplace scenarios.

Attendees will have an opportunity to win door prizes worth over $500.
