Betty W. Arnold, 84, of Keokuk and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Davenport and Lockridge, died Wednesday, June 03, 2015 at Dave’s Place in Keokuk.
A funeral service for Betty will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. The Reverend Gloria Friedrich, Pastor, First Augustana Lutheran Church, Lockridge, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 Noon to 7:00 on Monday, June 8 at the funeral home. There will be no family visitation.
Betty Winona Arnold was born October 24, 1930 on the family farm in Round Prairie Township, southwest of Lockridge, IA. She was the daughter of Glen Walter and Anna Pauline (nee Carlson) Arnold. She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Lockridge High School class of 1948.
Betty began her working career at the Rock Island Arsenal where she was employed for 10 months. On October 17, 1949, Betty began a long career with the MIC Insurance Corporation of General Motors in Davenport. She remained with MIC until January 31, 1976. Betty then went to work for the Loper Insurance Agency in Davenport. In 1981, Betty retired and returned to the Lockridge area. She moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1982. Betty was a lifelong member of First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge.
Betty is survived by several cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father and step father, Merlin Vorhies.
