A celebration of life for Kenneth E. “Barney” Rich, 77, of Wayland will be held Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 5:00 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Nancy Sutherland officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2PM until service time on Sunday, September 20. A memorial fund has been established for the Wayland Fire Department, Parkview Home and Cottonwood Cemetery. Kenny Rich died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Parkview Home following a brief battle with lung and brain cancer.
Kenneth Edward Rich was born May 23, 1938 in Henry County, Iowa, the son of Sam and Flossie (Sammons) Rich. He was united in marriage to Janice McGill on October 1, 1959 in the First United Methodist Church in Washington. Kenny held many jobs in his life, including working for Goodwin House Moving, Unkrich Feed and Grain, Wayland Feed Service, raising turkeys and hogs, and owning and operating T & K DX Gas Station. He was a member of the Cottonwood Church and enjoyed camping, family vacations and family dinners every Sunday.
Survivors include his wife Janice of Wayland, three children and spouses: Lori (Gary) Messer of Wayland, Loren (Andrea) Rich of Wayland, Amy (Jeff) Eubanks of Wayland, six grandchildren: Amanda (Curtis) Gomes, Jessica Messer (Cody Clark), KC, Landon (Samantha) Rich, Emma and Nolan Eubanks, two great grandsons: Carter and Aiden Gomes, one brother, Wayne Rich of Washington, two sisters: Mildred (Dwight) Manning of Wayalnd, Lucille Bain of Iowa City and many nieces and nephews.
