Wayland Fire Department was called out this morning to Wagler Woodcraft Manufacturing at 605 North Parkway in Wayland. An employee reported a fire in a dust collection bin located outside the building. Wayland Fire Chief Matt Liechty said he didn’t know what ignited the bin’s contents. No one was hurt. Damage was confined to the bin where dust goes that is collected by the building’s central air vacuum system.
Monday morning New London Fire Department reported to a house fire in the 300 block of North Maple Street. The second floor of the house was fully engulfed when fire fighters arrived on the scene at about 4:30 am. The family that lived in the house was able to get out without injuries. New London fire department was able to knock down the fire fairly quickly according to Chief Brad Helmerson. Helmerson said there was water damage to the first floor. He also said at this time the cause of the fire was undetermined.
Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was called to assist New London in battling the house fire but on the way out of town the Mt. Pleasant crew had to stop at one of the Innovaire parking lots on East Washington Street to put out a car fire. By the time they arrived at the fire in New London, it was pretty well under control.
